Description

Hisaronu is a charming hill town that has become quite popular as a holiday resort. The town is located just a short ride from the beautiful seaside resort of Fethiye, on the 'Turquoise Coast'. The surrounding area of Hisaronu offers a beautiful landscape which is ideal for walkers and a rugged coast filled with secluded bays and coves. The town offers a lot of hotels, bars, restaurants, shops and tour operators, and is ideally situated for those intent on enjoying an active holiday and exploring the region

Shopping

The main shopping area of Hisaronu is the main street. The stores here sell everything from carpets to leather goods to imitation designer wear. Bargaining and haggling about the price is customary and is very much part of the shopping experience.

Restaurants

Hisaronu has an excellent variety of restaurants to cater the needs of international tourists. From spicy Mexican to traditional English to sizzling Italian almost all types of cuisine is on offer. Most Restaurants are along the main street, and some of the favorites include the Indian Restaurant Shine and the Chinese favorite Dragonara. The Olive Tree is the place to visit to enjoy traditional Turkish delights.

Night Life

The nightlife on the 'Turquoise Coast' is quite legendary. There are clubs and pubs that stay open till the early hours during the summer season. These clubs offer everything from the 60s discos to Turkish theme nights.

Activities

Lying lazily all day on the beautiful Oludeniz beach is definitely a great option but Hisaronu is packed with so many opportunities that it’s just not possible to do so. Some of the more popular activities include paragliding from Babadag Mountain to land on the beach; canoeing down to Patara on the Xanthos river; paintball pitching in the pine forests; paying a visit to the bazaar in nearby Fethiye; glass bottom boat trip; a day trip to the Greek island of Rhodes; and a day trip to the 'ghost town' of Kayakoy.

Language Description

The official language of Turkey is Turkish. However in almost all the main tourist areas, English is widely understood.

Tipping

Either a small change or a percentage of the bill is the customary tip given for most services in Turkey. Big hotels and restaurants generally add a service charge to the bill, but whenever that is not the case, 10 and 15% of the bill is expected as tips. While tipping taxi drivers, it is recommended to round up the bill. Attendants at Turkish baths expect 15% of the total bill as tips if the service offered has been good.
