Description
Gumbet is named after the numerous white-domed cisterns in the area and recently became very popular resort. Gumbet is very close to Bodrum and is a popular choice for a family or young group looking for a holiday in the sun. Shopping
The shops at Gumbet offer just basic and tourist souvenirs. There are a few supermarkets which are all overprices. One has travel to nearby Bodrum and visit the covered bazaar or the designer shops along the marina for a better range of potential purchases and some of the best shopping in Turkey.
Restaurants
The central street of Gümbet has a great selection of restaurants and few more are situated at the beach front. There are enough options to catering to all tastes, with the key focus being on the English travelers. There are a few offering exotic cuisine like Indian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese and Thai. But the best option would be to try the local cuisine itself. There are a few fast food outlets too. Prices at most of the restaurants tend to be a little more than the neighboring Bodrum.
Night Life
For after dark entertainment Gumbet offers plenty of bars and restaurants open until the early hours, many catering to British tastes. The town has several air-conditioned and sound proofed discos and a multitude of pubs and bars boasting the cheapest beer to be found on the peninsula. Most of the clubs and discos are concentrated along "Bar Street", which runs from the central crossroads to the beach. There is also a casino at the resort. The nightlife in Gumbet is busier, with extravaganzas and shows that leave you with a wonderful experience.
Activities
Gumbet hosts one of the longest and most popular beaches on the peninsula. There are popular water sports centers to pursuit water-skiing, windsurfing, parasailing and mountain biking. Visitors can also go on a ferry ride to Kos and Rhodes or go on a coastal cruise tour. A leisurely boat rip along the coastline of peninsula is also a great option.

Attractions
About two hours drive from Gumbet lies, the ancient city of Ephesus. Founded around 3000 BC, the city hosts the largest collection in the world of classical architecture such monumental fountains, Roman baths and an amphitheatre dating back to the time when St Paul briefly lived here.
Gumupluk is also a must see. It is one of the oldest settlements of the peninsula and visitors can still see the underwater remains of the old harbor wall that connected Tafpan Island to the mainland.
A trip to Bodrum which is also about 10mins away can be a great experience both for its shopping and sight seeing options.

Tipping
Either a small change or a percentage of the bill is the customary tip given for most services in Turkey. Big hotels and restaurants generally add a service charge to the bill, but whenever that is not the case, 10 and 15% of the bill is expected as tips. While tipping taxi drivers, it is recommended to round up the bill. Attendants at Turkish baths expect 15% of the total bill as tips if the service offered has been good.
