Description
Dubrovnik is an ancient city on the Adriatic Sea coast in the extreme south of Croatia. It is one of the most frequented tourist resorts. Dubrovnik is one of the chief centers of the development of the Croatian language and literature. The city is also a home to many famed poets, dramatists, artists and other academicians. Dubrovnik Highlands, which can be reached just by few minutes of ride, is well-known for its clear water, untouched forests, rough mountain terrain, and winter sports. The island also includes a fortress, botanical garden, a monastery and a naturist beach.
Shopping
While in Dubrovnik don’t miss the opportunity of buying hand-made hats which will make a perfect gift or souvenir. Ronchi hat factory is very famous and uses ancient technology to give modern touch for hats. There are good shops presenting genuine antiques like dishes, vases, glasses, paintings, tablecloths, jewelry etc. Art Studio Renaissance situated at the Old Town displays and sells paintings made on canvas, wood and glass.
Restaurants
Dubrovnik has ample number of restaurants and cafes that satisfies one and all. Well-know and luxurious eateries are found along the Preko and Siroka Ulica Street, in the Dubrovnik old town. Almost all restaurants serve similar dishes which include local specialties like rizot, menestra aka, buzara, grilled meat and other fish delicacies. There are national long distance codes for different cities and the city code for Zagreb is (0)1 and for Dubrovnik it is (0)20. Public phones can be operated using phone cards, which can be bought in post offices and hotels. Most GSM operators have roaming agreements with other international networks. Internet cafes are available in the larger towns and cities.

Attractions
Beaches are the main attractions of Dubrovnik. Apart from these there are many other places that need a visit. City Walls, the most famed place, exhibit the work of art and is built in medieval times. This wall acts as a protective wall for the Old Historic city. The church of St.Ignatius is Dubrovnik’s largest house of worship. This church must be visited to experience the great roman architecture. Dubrovnik Aquarium and Maritime Museum must be visited to view delightful displays of bright sea anemones, corals, shells, sea urchins and sea horses. Other places of attraction include Franciscan Monastery, Jewish Synagogue, Luza Square and many more.

Tipping
If the service is appreciated, the general practice with most services is to add a small tip and round up the bill. In tourist and up-market restaurants a tip of 10% is expected. This is necessary only if a service charge has not already been added into the bill. Tour guides expect to be tipped liberally.
